HERE'S WHAT THE CRITICS HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE INTERIOR DESIGN AT YOYO'S
TSUNAMI BISTRO!
"With the remodeling and opening of YoYo Tsumami Bistro, the East-West
theme that Elka employed is played out in a more relaxed, warmer environment.
The refurbished interior reflects the cross cultural blend. The warm
colors and soft lighting make it a more elegant but far more comfortable
than its former ELKA. Atmosphere : 3 stars."
Michael Bauer - Dining Out San Francisco Chronicle
October 22, 1995
"Upstairs a visually playful tsumami bar greets patrons with an exibition
counter and full bar, while downstairs opens to a dining room compossed
of simple Japanese lines and saturated color. Cool slate floors and
warm umber walls complement each other in this sensual space that
is both refined and casual. Subtle geometric shapes in rich colors
and textures appear throughout, lit dramatically by oversized Japanese
lanterns and sconces shaped in sweeping curves"
Food Day, March 3, 1997
"In its new guise, the Japantown glamour spot is YoYo Tsumami Bistro,
a Franco-Japanese cousin to a Spanish tapas bar. In the 3 weeks of
renovation, slate floors have replaced most carpeting providing a
cool contrast to the walls, now painted warm umber with deep blue
accents."
